Foodies of all stripes will have plenty to sink their teeth into this weekend at the Art-er Limits, Oxford’s inaugural fringe festival celebrating performing arts.
For two nights only, chefs will be preparing special tasting menus for diners. Tickets for these events are only available in advance before 12 p.m. on Fri., Aug. 1. Advance ticketing enables the chef time to prepare the tasting menu. Restaurants participating include City Grocery, Lenora’s, Locals, McEwans, and Round Table.
“Chefs like Vishwesh Bhatt of City Grocery and Mike Potera of Lenora’s have planned limited ticket events that showcase the culinary arts. We wanted this fringe festival to feature all kinds of performing arts and are so excited for people to take advantage of the great dining in Oxford in a fresh, new way,” explained Stacey Sanford, director of outreach at the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council.
The tastings occur both Friday., Aug. 1 and Saturday., Aug. 2 in the evening. Round Table will be providing a “Bubbles and Bones” tasting sponsored by Moet Chandon with smoked briskets and ribs. McEwans will host a community dinner. Locals chef, Roland Schnider, has prepared a “Flight of Wines” that will also include appetizers in the private dining room. Lenora’s will be offering appetizers featuring Potera’s family recipes, while City Grocery plans for “Bites and Beer” served up in the City Grocery bar.
YAC director, Wayne Andrews, said, “The restaurants in Oxford are amazing — the Arts Council is excited to be partnering with them for this unique event. The festival has brought so many new partnerships that we’d like to sustain. We’re really looking to promote every aspect of culture that makes Oxford so special.”
