The Rebels get set to take on the Vols on Rocky Top

The Ole Miss Rebels travel to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers in the Thompson-Boling Arena on Wednesday. The game is the opener in their challenging SEC schedule.
The Rebels (11-2) are led in scoring by junior Marshall Henderson, who is averaging 18.2 points per game. He also ranks second in the country in three- pointers –– with four a game.
In the team’s last outing, the Rebels defeated Fordham by a score of 95-68. Henderson led the way, scoring 21 points. Senior Murphy Holloway raked in another double-double to push his career total to 32. He had 15 points and 13 rebounds on the night.
The Rebels are looking for their first league opening win under Coach Andy Kennedy, who, after the Fordham game, gave his thoughts on how his team is looking going into conference play.
“We’re alive. We want the SEC play to have significance, and our SEC play has significance. I think we are ready. We are ready for the next step. It’s what these kids came to Ole Miss for, to have an opportunity to play in the SEC, and we get thrown right into the fire going into Knoxville on Wednesday night,” Kennedy said.
Tennessee (8-4) comes into the match up after an 85-80 loss to their in-state rival, the Memphis Tigers, on Friday. The Vols were led in scoring by junior Jordan McRae with 26 points.
The Rebels rank fifth in the country as a team, scoring an averaging of 83.1 points per game. While the Tennessee Volunteers come in averaging 64.5 points per game, putting them at 246th in the country.
The Volunteers have a 30-game edge on the Rebels, with the all-time series set at 69-39. The last time these two teams met, Ole Miss walked away the victor in a 77-72 win in the SEC Tournament last year.
The tip off between the Rebels and the Vols is set for 7p.m. and can be seen on the SEC Network. Ole Miss’s next home game will be on Saturday, when the Missouri Tigers come to town for the SEC home opener.
