Fans Gather at Ole Miss Conference Center for National Signing Day
Alumni and Ole Miss Rebel fans gathered at Oxford Conference Center today to watch National Signing Day, which was mainstreamed by HSF Network. The room was filled to capacity by fans of the football team showing their support.
Football is a huge matter for the Oxford community.
Ed Lee of Oxford, Mississippi, has been volunteering with the Oxford Quarterback Club for 12 years and looks forward to this event year.
“It’s good to be in a room with people that share one interest which is football,” Lee said.
Lee said he looked forward to A.J. Brown signing, who is a native from Starkville, Mississippi.
“It’s always good to have someone from the opposing team sign for Ole Miss,” Lee said.
Chancellor Jeffery Vitter, the University’s seventeenth chancellor, and many other officials in the Athletic Department spoke while waiting on the announcements to see who signed with what school.
Chancellor Vitter enlightened the crowd how good it is to be a Rebel.
“First day on the job, we win the Super bowl. Now that’s a good day”, Vitter said.
After the morning recruiting announcements were made, lunch was served to the adoring fans. Later, a silent auction will take place.
