Lafayette High School teachers enjoy lunch at Taylor’s Grocery in honor of the school’s academic achievement. The lunch was funded by Cannon Motors of Oxford.

Lafayette High School teachers were treated to lunch at Taylor Grocery for their work at the award-winning high school  on Oct. 13th.
Cannon Motors of Oxford provided the funds for this special treat.
What have these dedicated educators accomplished? Lafayette High School has achieved “A” school status for the past three years, according to school officials. Faculty credit this mainly to the focus teachers have on providing a challenging and rigorous curriculum. “I firmly believe that our high test scores are a by product of this curriculum focus,” said Lafayette High Principal Patrick Robinson.
During halftime of the Commodores Oct. 10th Football game, the Lafayette High School faculty and students were recognized together for their achievement of being named an “A” school.

Some of the high school’s passing percentages last year (2014) were:
English II 92% (tied for highest in the state), Algebra I 95% (tied for 4th highest in the state), Biology I 94% (tied for 6th highest in the state) and U.S. History 84%
Lunch was provided for all students passing their 2014 SATP exams (breakfast for the seniors), during the week of October 6th. Students scoring in the “Advanced” category will receive special awards throughout the fall semester.
As an example, school officials said Biology I “Advanced” score earners recently went to the Memphis Zoo for educational projects; English II “Advanced” scorers will view the upcoming movie, MockingJay (Hunger Games series). Students with perfect scores were given $100 each from the  Parent Involvement Program and National Beta Club Chapter.
