Seay has been a teacher for 27 years, during which time she’s been an elementary art specialist, a middle school art teacher, a high school art teacher, and the Young Artist program director for the Watkins School of Art Design and Film in Nashville.
“I jokingly tell people that I have always followed my children through school and that they refused to allow me to go to Ole Miss with them,” Seay states on her website. “My series of tailgate dishes and paintings were my attempt to bring Oxford to me while my children were there. My inspiration usually comes from the things I love: My children, husband, mom and dad, sisters, my nieces and my new nephew, and Libby the Wonder Dog.
“Watercolor was my first love; but I have grown to love the speed of acrylics. Over the last two decades, I have discovered Raku, glass fusing, jewelry and paper making. I love art, and learning new techniques never ceases to excite me. The contrast of colors and the play of light are ever present in my work.”
