Creole & a Whole Lot More: Upscale Meets Down Home at Bourè

Published

on

Looking for that New Orleans atmosphere without the five-hour drive? Then look no further than the Square and the wonderful world of Bourè. Whether you’re meeting friends for lunch, having a family dinner or just cocktails on the balcony; Bourè escorts you to a French Quarter portal right here in Oxford, from the delicious cuisine to the mood and décor of the restaurant itself.

IMG_9099Bourè’s opened in Oxford in 2002 and moved into the former Downtown Grill location about three years ago. Amber Appel is Bourè’s assistant manager and has been at the restaurant for eight years. Appel said Bourè’s style is distinctly Creole in a casual dining atmosphere.

“We have a definite Creole feel overall,” Appel said. “For upscale-downhome dining, we can’t be beat.”

This is Bourè’s second year to participate in Restaurant Week and this time around they’re offering a comfort meal that just resonates during January’s oftentimes cold and wintry temperatures.

IMG_9087“During Restaurant Week we’re offering customers a Grilled Cheese with their choice of Soup or Salad for $10,” Appel said. “And that’s all day and evening long. So they can order the special for either lunch or dinner by just asking for the Restaurant Week special and we’ll serve it up.”

Appel said customers have their choice of a house salad or a Caesar and can choose from the soup-of-the-day or the everyday favorite that’s always on the menu.

“Tomato basil is a customer favorite and our House soup and we serve it each and every day,” Appel said. “Then we have our soup-of-the-day and right now it’s chicken noodle. Our executive chef is Dru Jones and our staff is committed to excellent customer service, so we hope everyone will come out and support Restaurant Week here in Oxford. And also, be sure and go online and vote for their favorite local food charity afterward.”

IMG_9093As Oxford Restaurant Week comes to a close for 2015, the motivation behind the event, which is presented by Sysco and their No Kid Hungry Campaign, showcases community spirit and community support for eating out locally and Oxford food charities, in a way that nothing else could. By involving the entire community and its citizens, Oxford Restaurant Week proves that we can all make a difference when we come together in a unified way and support each other. Plus, we get to eat really well! And you can’t beat that with a stick.

We encourage you to go out and eat locally at participating restaurants and don’t forget to vote for your favorite food charity.
