Cofield on Oxford — A Rebel We'll Remember

Published

on

Cody Prewitt, Johnathan Gray
His interception in the end zone against LSU, or when his 75-yard pick 6 against Texas A&M told us that, “Aw hell, we can beat anybody!” and for so many more moments, we’ll remember you, Cody Prewitt.
4CB_0412We saw you, every single Rebel out here, we saw you play every play in red and blue like it was your last play. And there are a whole bunch of quarterbacks and offensive coordinators around the SEC who are damn glad they’ve seen your last play.
Win or lose, we know and look forward to seeing you out there, just getting it like you always do. Win or lose, many a happy return is waiting there in the Grove for you and your family, and you are family. The cheers will always live there. A kid will try to whisper, “There he is!”, and run up with a sharpie in hand, half anxious and half exploding with wide-eyed youth. And your children will see it and know a pride in their daddy that we already know for their father.
Hugh Freeze has caused so many firsts for us that it’s hard to know where to begin. GameDay in The Grove, No. 1 Bama going down, goal posts on the Square, and too many more to list. And now, as this season concludes, we see another first. The first of a class of Hugh Freeze era Ole Miss legends, as they begin to take their rightful places in the hearts of Rebel Nation.
Hotty Toddy forever to All-American Ole Miss Rebel, No. 25 Cody Prewitt of Bay Springs, we’ll always remember you.
