Chancellor Dan Jones Is Gaining Health
In interviews with the Clarion-Ledger and the Daily Mississippian, Chancellor Dan Jones said his condition is improving near the end of his weeks-long chemotherapy.
He was diagnosed with lymphoma last November and relocated to his home in Hazlehurst, a half-hour drive away from Jackson. In Jackson he underwent treatment at University of Mississippi Medical Center. Recently scans revealed no cancer in his body.
All that remains is completion of his scheduled chemotherapy treatment which he will finish a month’s worth left. According to Daily Mississippian he plans to return to university towards end of March.
In the DM article he said it will take him some time to return to full schedule he had before the diagnosis of the cancer discovered in his abdomen and bone marrow. Ole Miss Provost Morris Stocks had handled most of the everyday duties for Jones. Even then Jones said to Clarion-Ledger that he had tried to stay in the loop of major issues at University of Mississippi by talking to universities leaders several times a day.
We’ll be looking forward to his return in spring, and wish him the speediest of recoveries!
