buffalo-community“Community Day, or ‘Team Up For Kids’, is a yearly event where a portion of all of our sales, including dine-in, to-go and alcohol, goes to the Boys and Girls Club of Oxford and Lafayette County,” said Summer Farrell, Buffalo Wild Wings operations manager. “We have been participating in Community Day since our location opened in 2012, but Buffalo Wild Wings has been partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America for over 10 years.”
The goal behind Buffalo Wild Wing’s Community Day is to encourage team sports at local Boys and Girls Clubs. All day Wednesday, a portion of the sales will help the more than 200 children that attend the Oxford Boys and Girls Club to have the space and equipment they need to safely compete in a variety of sports.
“The mission of the ‘Team Up For Kids’ Community Day is ‘There is a Champion in every child.’ We are committed to helping build communities where all kids can thrive, compete and belong to a team,” Farrell said. “Team sports connect people, strengthen communities and teach kids and teens valuable life skills, like self-confidence, teamwork and accountability. Our goal is to bring the benefits of team sports into the lives of kids who need it most.”
buffalo-bgcCommunity Day differs from other percentage events in that it includes something for the whole family. From 4 to 7 p.m., there will be a wing-eating contest, that puts the Oxford Fire Department against the Oxford Police Department, in addition to activities for kids. From 7 to 9 p.m., there will be trivia with special prizes.
“We will have face painting, crafts for kids and a trivia night with extra prizes,” Farrell said. “We hope to attract both families and college students and to offer a little extra fun for everyone.”
In addition to the event in the restaurant, Buffalo Wild Wings also supports the national Boys and Girls Clubs of America with their sauce sales, and they reach out to the local Boys and Girls club to host an afternoon party for the kids who attend the club. buffalo-cake
“Besides our one-day event, every day when you purchase a bottle of our sauce, one dollar goes directly to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America,” Farrell said. “We also host an ice cream social at the Boys and Girls Club here in Oxford. We take cake and ice cream to share, visit and play games with the kids.”
