UPDATE: Batesville PD Hunting for Suspects in Kidnapping, Robbery
12:20 p.m. – Police believe one of the men they are searching for related to this incident is Michael David Mannis. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds. He has family Missouri and may be headed there.
Mannis and another man are suspected of kidnapping, robbing and hog-tying a Tallahatchie County man before stealing his truck. When officers located the truck on Thursday evening, Mannis and his partner opened fire on the squad car before fleeing the scene. The next time the officers saw the stolen truck, the suspects had torched it.
Police received a call this morning from the kidnapped Tallahatchie County man who said the two men forced him to drop them off at an Arby’s restaurant in Horn Lake, Miss. The whereabouts of the two suspects is unknown at this point, but law enforcement officials believe they may be headed toward Missouri.
10:25 a.m. – Batesville, Miss. Police are searching for two suspects tied to a kidnapping and armed robbery this morning. It is believed that the suspects tied up the victim during a home invasion, then forced him to drive toward Memphis.
According to Batesville investigators, the suspects shot at a Batesville police car while fleeing the scene.
The suspects were dropped off in Horn Lake, Miss. and are believed to be on foot. The victim was able to escape unharmed.
