Boil Water Advisory Issued for Lafayette County

boil-water notice

Customers of the Delta Rain – Wellsgate Water Systems are being notified to boil water today.

The Mississippi state department of health says a contractor cut a water line Wednesday thus causing the advisory issue. The incident affects 484 customers of the specified Lafayette County water systems.

Those who are not familiar with the procedure need to boil water for at least one minute before washing food and utensils with it or drinking it. After the boil water notice has been lifted the faucets should be flushed for 10 minutes in order to introduce the clean water throughout house plumbing. Be sure to run your dishwasher through a cycle too before washing dishes. Lastly don’t forget to check your water filters.

The water system will be notified when tests show that the water is safe to drink.

More information about the boil water notice can be read here on the state government website.
