Baseball Tourney Projection Puts Rebels as National 8-Seed

With three weeks left in the regular season of college baseball, it’s projection time on the NCAA baseball tournament.
Every season at this time of the year, Ole Miss fans start to look at the possibility  of hosting a regional. This season is no different, and more likely, as the Rebels are No. 10 in the nation according to the collegiate baseball poll.

Will Allen slides into second with a double against Southern Miss.

Going into this weekend’s series with Arkansas Razorbacks, some pundits are predicting Ole Miss to be a national seed in the NCAA tourney.
Coach Mike Bianco’s squad has been forecasted to end up as high as  a No. 8 national seed, according to the Perfect Game website.
The Prefect Game has three SEC schools forecast as National seeds: Florida, South Carolina and Ole Miss. Two other SEC hopefuls, Alabama and LSU, are slotted as possible host sites for this year’s run at Omaha, Neb.
The Oxford regional would be matched up with the Rice regional. The winner of that regional would come to Oxford to play in the Super Regional if the Rebels could escape a projected playoff that includes Texas Tech, Clemson and Davidson.
If the Rebels can finish out the regular season strong, a national seed and meaningful post-season college baseball here in Oxford could definitely happen for the first time since the 2005 season.
What happens once and if the Rebels get there is another story all-together.
