Loyal Rebel fans celebrated another National Signing Day and for the second time in three year,s Coach Freeze and his staff have assembled a class rated as one of the best in school history, the second highest ranking in school history to be exact.
Many recruits signed the letters of intent by the time the ballroom in the Oxford Conference Center was alive and buzzing with members of the media, the Ole Miss Quarterback Club, and former Rebel greats.
There were many activities at the event, including a silent auction, three large projection screens to keep up with recruiting news, and even an all-you-can-eat breakfast and lunch buffet.
Leaders of the Ole Miss football community gave speeches between signing updates. The room erupted with Freeze’s first television appearance of the day.
The biggest crowd reaction came from the surprise flip of 4-star recruit Tee Shepard, who chose Ole Miss over Mississippi State at the last minute. Generations of Rebel fans cheered in excitement as the news ran across the ESPN ticker.
Shepard was thought to be locked up by Mississippi State having verbally committed to the Bulldogs earlier in the week, however the Rebels managed to get the stud prospect to round out their class and the day.
As someone who spent a few years supporting the Rebels, I have seen my fair share of football related events, But I can honestly say that the event put on this Signing Day by the Ole Miss Quarterback Club was one of the most well-organized to date.
The Ole Miss Quarterback Club does so much for the University, not only for the football team, but for the Oxford community in general.
Groups like these are the lifeblood of Rebel football.
