ChargerChallengeLooking for some good, clean family fun this Saturday?  You’ll find it all for free at the fourth annual Charger Challenge in Oxford.
“The family carnival will feature face painting, tattoos and art; events like sack races, speed pitching, a football toss and long jumping, as well as challenges like the soccer shootout and foot races,” said co-organizer, Desiree Hensley, who is also a board member for the Oxford School District Foundation (OSDF).
The event kicks off at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20 and runs until 1 p.m. It takes place at the newly renovated Oxford Middle School campus. In case of rain, the event will move inside the school.
“The Charger Challenge is a great opportunity to bring the Oxford family together for an enjoyable event,” said co-organizer, Josh Davis.
The University of Mississippi baseball and track and field teams will be there to work with the children who attend.  Oxford high school and middle school cheerleaders, as well as dance team members will also be at the Charger Challenge, and Supt. Brian Harvey is ready to make a splash at the dunking booth, too.
Created by OSDF in 2011, in its first three years, more than 1,000 people have attended Charger Challenge.
“The OSDF has continued hosting the free annual event in order to draw attention to OSDF’s work and to encourage attendees and others to become members,” said Hensley.
For the past 28 years, the Oxford School District Foundation has been recognizing educational excellence by funding grant applications from teachers with ideas for enhancing student learning. To become a member of OSDF, log on to https://bit.ly/OxfordSchools.
