Oxford Daily Crime Report for Thursday, Aug. 29

The Oxford Police Department responded to seven disturbances, seven alarms, two welfare concerns, two simple assaults, two suspicious persons, two lost properties, an ambulance assistance, a motorist assistance, a careless driver, an improper parking, an identity theft and littering.
The Oxford Police Department also investigated six wrecks, issued 20 tickets and made 11 arrests for the following charges: (2) disturbing the peace, (2) possession of fake ID, a suspended drivers license with no tag and no insurance, a public drunk with possession of fake ID and possession Schedule 11 controlled substance, a public drunk, a DUI to first degree, a careless driver with DUI to first degree, a careless driver with no tag and a DUI to first degree, and a careless driver who followed too closely with possession of alcohol by minor and a fake ID and with a DUI to first degree.
The University Police Department responded to a car wreck on Rebel Drive, a grand larceny off-campus, an auto burglary off-campus, a suspicious vehicle at Jackson Ave. Center, and traffic at Coliseum Drive.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to an accidental alarm at Captain D’s on Jackson Ave., a call to Crosby Hall when the fire pump in the basement accidentally activated and set off the alarm, another call to Crosby Hall when the fire pump repeated again, a call to Martin Hall for burnt food in the microwave in Room 602, a fire alarm went off at 201 Penny Lane, and a gas leak at The Taco Depot caused by construction workers accidentally cutting a gas line – the fire department stood by until Centerpoint arrived.
