Rebels Take on Boise State Thursday

Football season is finally upon us, and game week has finally arrived for Rebel fans with a big season opener on the road against a brand new opponent with a new coaching staff.
It’s the third year of Coach Hugh Freeze’s journey with the Rebels, and the season begins in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta against the Boise State Broncos at 7 p.m. Thursday, marking the first time these two schools have met on the gridiron.
Coming into the start of this season, the Rebels finished fall camp in good shape, and Freeze said the team is ready to face the season’s competition with a tricky season opener.
Freeze and his coaching staff had a difficult time preparing for Thursday’s game because the Broncos staff is new, with every assistant coach coming from a different school and style. After weeks of debate with the coaching staff, Freeze said the approach Boise State will take probably won’t match what Boise State Coach Bryan Harsin did at Arkansas State last year.
Because of that, Freeze said that there really has not been anyone to call to get a true scouting report on the team.
At a press conference Monday, Freeze talks about what the Rebels might face in the upcoming game against their unfamiliar opponent.

Senior quarterback Bo Wallace talked at a press conference Monday about how much film the Rebels have watched to get an understanding of the type of defense the Rebel offense could face with the Broncos.

Freeze also gave a brief report on sophomore defensive back Tee Shepard’s status after his season-ending toe injury:
“Tee (Shepard’s) surgery on his toe went well and the doctors like how it went,” said Freeze. “He returned to class today and will start rehab treatment tomorrow.”
