Jay Maxey, Red Cross Volunteer of Year, is Fire Chief in Carroll County
Jay Maxey of Carroll County was named Volunteer of the Year by the American Red Cross Northwest Mississippi Chapter at the chapter’s annual meeting held in Oxford.
He was recognized for his exemplary service and dedication to the Red Cross and his community.
“Not only is Jay on the ground locally as a disaster action team member, he is also willing to be deployed when possible to other parts of the state in need,” said NW Chapter Executive Jennifer Coleman.
Sandy Patrick, disaster program specialist in the NW Chapter said, “Jay Maxey makes our jobs easier: He continually recruits new volunteers and is a recognized disaster action team leader always ensuring his team members are up to date in their training and skills.”
Maxey is Chief of the Gravel Hill/Black Hawk Volunteer Fire Department located in Carroll County. He owns Maxey Trucking and also works at a family-owned business, C & M Maintenance.
