The Tupelo Furniture Market, one of the largest furniture trade shows in the United States, will again open building number one of its six buildings to the public and will pack it with more furniture and home accessories than ever before! There will also be plenty of appliances, jewelry, clothing and other fashion-related items that the public and many of the furniture retailers in attendance will want to purchase. The shopping experience in building one has been dubbed, The Furniture, Gift & Home Accessories Show, and this fall there is much more going on at this event than ever before!
Tupelo High School’s booster club, The Salvation Army and Hospice House will be raising funds prior to and during the four days of the event. In addition, North Mississippi Health Services will host a Health Fair on Thursday, the opening day of the show.
“One of our missions at the Tupelo Furniture Market is to do good for the community,” said Kevin J. Seddon, president of the market. “Therefore, we determined for this upcoming fall iteration of the Furniture, Gift & Home Accessories Show, we would reach out to key groups and organizations and ask that they partner with us and help create a special type of community event – an event that offers a great shopping experience, but also gives back to the residents of the region.”
Tupelo High School students and boosters began selling raffle tickets recently. Winners will be drawn each day of the show which runs, August 14-17. Prizes include a 10 carat Amethyst ring set in 14 carat gold, a Mink Vest, 40” LED HDTV, 5-piece patio furniture set, formal dining room furniture, a lawn mower, a washer and dryer set and more!
The Salvation Army and Sanctuary Hospice House will be promoting the event in advance and will be on-site all four days of the show. Those interested in donating to either charity, are asked to please attend and show their support.
“Our hope is that the community will come out and support these fine charities and also Tupelo High School,” said Adam Cleveland, the market’s COO. “It can often be difficult for organizations such as these to get in front of a large group, so our hope is that we can bring Tupelo residents to them.”
Cleveland went on to explain that on the opening day of the event, Mississippi Health Services would hold a health fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tupelo residents will be able to get tested, at no charge, for blood pressure, body mass index, bone density and glaucoma. Stroke screenings are also free of charge. There will be reduced charges for those that require blood work-lipid profiles as well. Cleveland also indicated that the Mississippi Blood Services “bloodmobile” will be on hand on Thursday for those who would like to donate blood.
Of course, the event is still a “one-of-a-kind” shopping and entertainment opportunity and companies will fill the 185,000 sq. ft. of space offering incredible pricing on their products! Companies including Bluebird Boutique, Southern Chics and 1409 Posh Boutique will be exhibiting, and the range of products will once again range from indoor and outdoor furnishings, bedding, pottery, home appliances, jewelry, designer purses, artwork, lighting fixtures and so much more!
In addition to raffle prizes, there will be door prizes, the 3rd “Sparkles & Spirits” party, a fashion event showcasing local companies’ clothing and accessory lines, as well as the chance to grab “show dollars” in the TFM “money booth”! Kay Bain, one of Tupelo’s most endearing local entertainers, will entertain the crowd Thursday, and the popular band, WishBone, will play it special brand of music on both Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
“The Furniture, Gift & Home Accessories Show has provided the perfect venue for furniture industry retailers that are searching for smaller companies offering unique furniture, home accessories, and other items that might round out their inventory,” said Seddon. “Many of these small companies, which often sell hand-crafted furniture and accessories in smaller lots, want to sell to both the trade and the public so we allow them to do so in building one of our six buildings. It’s worked perfectly for all our attendees and for our exhibiting companies. And this year, we believe we’ve been fortunate to offer an event that best serves the trade, consumers and our community!”
The Furniture, Gift & Home Accessories Show runs from Thursday, August 14 through Sunday, August 17. The Show times are: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, 8:00 to 6:00 Saturday and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday.
