The Southeastern Conference announced Friday some changes to the annual baseball tournament played at the end of the regular season each season.
Last year, the tournament expanded from eight to 10 teams, but with the additions of Texas A&M and Missouri, another change had to be made.
The new format has 12 teams receiving a bid into the tournament with the two divisional winners as the top two seeds and Nos. 3-12 seeds based on winning percentages in conference play.
The top four seeds will receive byes, while the No. 5-12 seeds will face off in single-elimination contests before the remaining eight teams will play in the traditional double-elimination style until there are four teams remaining, where it switches back to single-elimination.
