Oxford Daily Crime Report for Wed., June 4
The Oxford Police Department made the following felony arrest on Tuesday, June 3:
On Tuesday, June 3, 2014 Officers of the Oxford Police Department responded to Wal-Mart for a shoplifting in progress. Officers arrived and the suspect was identified as Joe Davis Exson (51) of Water Valley, Miss. Exson was placed under arrest for shoplifting. The value of the stolen property was over $500.00, which made the crime a felony. Exson’s bond was set at $1,500.
The Oxford Police Department responded to the following incidents:one malicious mischief, four disturbances, four welfare concerns, three suspicious activities, petit larceny, a fire department assist, two alarms, grand larceny, an ambulance assist, a civil matter, and improper parking.
OPD also responded to five wrecks, issued 22 citations, and made two arrests on the following charges: DUI 1st and felony shoplifting.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to two calls: a cancelled entrapment call for a wreck at University Ave. and South 9th and a smoke detector malfunction at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
The University Police Department issued moving violations for no or broken taillights on University Ave. and speeding, driving with a suspended license and DUI 1st at the Intramural Fields. UPD also responded to two disturbance calls at the Ole Miss Union; property damage to a vehicle on Dormitory Row West; and bicycle larceny at the Turner Center.
