K&A Designs Opens as Sugar Magnolia's Newest Exhibitor
Tuesday is the first official day of business for K&A Designs inside the Sugar Magnolia Antique Mall, owned by Allison Stegall and New Albany dentist, Dr. Kevin Rowan.
K&A, as in Kevin and Allison, stocked their booth as the newest exhibitor at Oxford’s Sugar Magnolia Antique Mall and returned to New Albany near closing time.
The partners have high hopes for a good return on their investment in antiques and sundries. If not a great financial return, “we are going to have fun doing it,” Dr. Rowan said.
The couple, both divorced, “found each other” when Allison visited Dr. Rowan’s office as she searched for a new dentist. In addition to his dental practice, Dr. Rowan joins Allison in sharing a range of activities from attending auctions, estate and yard sales, to showing Black Angus cows.
Kevin’s farm is Cha Cha Rita, named for his 14 year old daughter, Charlsey, who he gave the nickname Cha Cha from her favorite children’s book, “Bear In The Big Blue House.”
Dr. Rowan is also an auctioneer, and he and his dad, David Rowan, own Trio Sales in New Albany. Trio Sales sells antiques and related items.
The booth at Sugar Magnolia is the first venture into antiques in Oxford for Kevin and Allison. They recently returned from Houston, Tex., where Dr. Rowan was attending a dental conference when he discovered an auction which helped stock their new exhibit at Sugar Magnolia. Among the items purchased and brought home in the back of his Volvo were stain glass windows from England.
“We could have filled a truck with items,” Allison said, while Kevin added “we’ll be back for more goods.
Allison’s 12-year-old daughter, McKinley, shows the Black Angus cows and earns “scholarship money”. Allison has a 17-year-old son, Rhett, and the Rowans and Stegalls enjoy activities together.
