The Oxford Daily Crime Report for May 12

The Oxford Police Department investigated 20 wrecks, 72 traffic citations and 16 arrests, on the following charges: possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest; four public intoxication; failure to yield at a red light and first-offense DUI; no seat belt and second-offense DUI; public intoxication and warrant served; speeding and driving while license suspended; first-offense DUI; careless driving, no insurance and first-offense DUI; no headlights and first-offense DUI; consumption of alcohol on city streets and possession of a false identification; two shopliftings; and speeding, no insurance and driving while license suspended.
Oxford Police also responded to reports of 22 disturbances, seven alarms, nine suspicious activities, two fire department assists, 12 ambulance assists, two simple assaults, malicious mischief, six welfare concerns, shoplifting, two parking complaints, two petit larcenies, animal complaint and a 911 hang-up call.
The University Police Department responded to the following incidents this weekend:
Friday, May 9
Two running a stop sign, public drunk on Sorority Row, public drunk at Kappa Sigma fraternity house, public drunk at Stewart Hall, suspicious person at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, traffic assists on Coliseum Drive, larceny at the Fed Ex Center, traffic assist/improperly parked vehicle at Martin Hall, hit-and-run accident at Kincannon Hall Parking Lot, larceny at Stockard Hall, harassment at Lamar Hall, traffic assist at Guest Hall, vandalism to vehicle at Women’s Soccer Field, malicious mischief at Kincannon Hall, fraud-providing false information to officer Oxford-University Stadium, vandalism-malicious mischief at Beta Theta Pi, traffic assist at University Place and a suspicious person at Rebel Drive.
Saturday, May 10
Speeding, driving without headlights, suspicious person at Campus Walk Apartments, second-offense DUI at University Place, disturbance at Ole Miss Union, suspicious person at Farley Hall, traffic assists on Coliseum Drive and Confederate Drive, disturbance at Campus Walk Apartments, weapon on school property/no charge/no arrest at The Inn at Ole Miss, suspicious person calls at Martin Hall and the Indoor Practice Facility, and traffic assists on Hill Drive, Presidential Debate Way, West Road, Poole Drive and Coliseum Drive, motor vehicle accident on West Road, traffic assists at Ford Performing Arts Center and University Place, improper equipment, running a stop sign, careless driving, suspicious person at Kappa Sigma fraternity house and disturbance – loud/unnecessary music or noise at Deaton Hall.
Sunday, May 11
Three speeding at University Place, improper equipment, first-offense DUI on University Place, suspicious vehicle at Kinard Hall, larceny-bicycles at Stockard Hall, larceny at Deaton Hall, running stop sign at Kincannon Hall, disturbance at Residential College, traffic assists at the Baseball Field and University Place, running a stop sign at the Library Annex, three speeding on Hathorn Road and running a stop sign on West Road.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls this weekend:
Friday, May 9
– Steam cleaning kitchen activated smoke detector, at North Residential College, 10:12 p.m. – Burned food activated smoke detector, Northgate B205, at 1:20 p.m.
Saturday, May 10
– Working on fryer activated smoke detector, at Shipley’s Donuts, at 3:36 p.m. – Smoke detector malfunction, at ATO House No. 9, at 9:47 p.m.
Sunday, May 11
– Wreck call canceled, on Highway 6 East / University, at 3:01 p.m. – Burned food activated a smoke detector, at Canterbury Crest No. 120, at 4:30 p.m.
