Ole Miss Baseball Remains Nationally Ranked

The Ole Miss baseball team remains strong in the top 25 polls this week as they top out at No. 11 in the Baseball America survey
The Rebels took their series with the Arkansas Razorbacks 2 games to 1 over the weekend.
Ole Miss (35-14, 15-9 SEC) won the first two games on Friday and Saturday, then dropped Sunday’s game by the score of 11-1.
The Rebels find themselves in control of first place of the SEC’s Western Division after Alabama and LSU both fell over the weekend. Their in-state rival Mississippi State is one game behind Ole Miss after picking up a sweep over Auburn.
With just seven games left in the regular season, the Rebels have a high probability of hosting post-season play in Oxford.
But they have to finish strong.

To do that the Rebels will have to continue good all-around play that features solid hitting and steady, if not spectacular, starting pitching. Offensively, the Rebels have power up and down the lineup. Three Rebels are at the top of in the SEC in hitting: Auston Bousfield (1st), Will Allen (2nd) and Austin Anderson (3rd).
Senior first baseman Sikes Orvis leads the team with 12 home runs.
Coach Mike Bianco’s weekend rotation of Chris Ellis, Christian Trent and Sam Smith has been the difference in many SEC series, but the late-inning relief has sometimes sabotaged games.
Ole Miss will play host to the Georgia Bulldogs this weekend to close out the 2014 home portion regular season schedule. With all that’s going around the Ole Miss campus including graduation, be sure to come out and support your nationally ranked Rebels.
