In the friday night game between Ole Miss and Arkansas, fans enjoyed a great evening of Rebel baseball at Swayze Field under clear skies and warm weather. Ole Miss defeated the Razorbacks and took game one of the series by the score of 3-2.
No. 10 Ole Miss (34-13, 14-8 SEC) fought back and forth with the Razorbacks through the first two-and-a-half innings of scoreless baseball.
A real pitcher’s duel was underway until the bottom of the third when the Rebels scored the first run of the game off of a  hit  from Auston Bousfield to score Braxton Lee from second.
Ole Miss would never look back from that point. In the next inning, the Rebels added  their final two runs of the game, which proved to be enough with the support of strong hurling by Ole Miss pitchers.
Coach Mike Bianco discussed the satisfying win after the game.
“We had the bullpen up and ready to go, but the way Greenwood pitched in the seventh and eighth, it looked like the ball had a lot of zip on it,” said Bianco. “He looked like he had all four pitches tonight.
“Back before the season started, we said we don’t really have a closer,” Bianco added. “But Greenwood could be that guy that could come in at a big time in the game and get you nine outs. He’s not just a ninth-inning guy.”

Freshman J.B. Woodman went 3-for-3 at the plate on Friday, scoring a run and driving one in to help nail down the win for the Rebels.
Ole Miss starter Chris Ellis (7-0) worked six innings, only gave up two runs on six hits. Ellis struck out two batters and walked three Razorbacks.
Coach Bianco called on the arm of Aaron Greenwood to come in and pitch in relief of Ellis. Greenwood gave a lights- out performance working three innings, allowing no runs or hits and striking out four Razorback batters. He picked up his second save on the season.
Arkansas did not stay off the scoreboard all night long. In the fifth inning, they scratched across two runs.
Game two in this series is Saturday at 2:15 p.m. and will be televised on FSN.
