Rebels Host Hogs for a Three Game Series
The Ole Miss baseball team returns to the diamond tonight as the play host to the Arkansas Razorbacks in a three-game series.
No. 10 Ole Miss (33-13, 13-8 SEC) comes into the game looking to bounce back from a heartbreaking 7-6 loss to their in-state rival Southern Miss on Wednesday night. That contest concluded the Rebels non-conference home games for the 2014 season.
The Rebels come in tied for first place in the Western Division of the SEC with Alabama, after sweeping the Kentucky Wildcats last weekend. The high-powered offense that Ole Miss displays moved them into second in the conference in three offense categories: batting average (.308), home runs (33) and runs scored (285).
Arkansas (29-18, 10-11 SEC) rolls into Oxford after dropping two-of-three games to the Auburn Tigers last weekend at home in Fayetteville, Ark. The Razorbacks are led at the plate by Brian Anderson, who has a .329 average, four home runs and 39 RBI.
As a club on the season, Arkansas is hitting at a .263 clip with 20 home runs and 218 RBI on 239 runs scored.
This weekend the Razorbacks are sending to the mound: right-handed pitcher Trey Killian (Friday), left-hander Jalen Beeks (Saturday) and right-hander Chris Oliver (Sun). to face the the Rebels. While coach Mike Bianco is going with the weekend rotation of Chris Ellis, Christian Trent and Sam Smith.
The Rebels and the Razorbacks have faced each other 74 times since the 1992 season. Ole Miss trails in the series by six games. Last season, the Rebels took two-of-three games.
