The Oxford Daily Crime Report for Monday, April 21

The Oxford Police Department investigated seven wrecks, issued 120 traffic citations and made 20 arrests, on the following charges: willful trespass; out of jurisdiction warrant; suspended driver’s license; out of jurisdiction warrant; abuse of 911 and possession of drug paraphernalia; second-offense DUI, suspended driver’s license, careless driving and out-of-jurisdiction warrant; possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, child restraint and careless driving; DUI, no driver’s license and careless driving; speeding and suspended driver’s license; three consumption of alcohol in a public place; DUI; DUI and careless driving; public drunk; DUI and leaving the scene of an accident; possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and possession of a Schedule 4 narcotic; two alcohol possession by a minor; two shoplifting; and trespassing.
Oxford Police also responded to 11 alarms, a motor vehicle assist, four welfare concerns, petit larceny, 15 disturbances, seven ambulance assists, two harassing phone calls, three grand larcenies, animal running at large, three 911 hang-ups, auto burglary, two suspicious activities, four suspicious persons, four fire department assists, code enforcement complaint, other law enforcement assist, lost property, civil matter, complaint of littering and scam.
The University Police Department responded to the following incidents this weekend:
Friday, April 18 Three running a stop sign, seat belt violation, burglary – taking items from auto and improper equipment.
Saturday, April 19 Four running a stop sign, alcohol – intoxicated person, improper equipment, traffic assists at University Place and the basketball practice facility, vandalism to vehicle at the Ole Miss Band Hall, speeding, three vehicle stops, drugs – possession of paraphernalia at Martin Hall and driving wrong way on one-way street at Kincannon Hall Parking Lot.
Sunday, April 20 Six vehicle stops and a traffic assist on Grove Loop.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents this weekend:
Friday, April 18 – Smoke detector malfunction, Chi Omega house, Room No. 6, at 12:26 a.m. – Truck fire, extinguished by the fire department, Highway 6 behind Walmart, at 8:24 a.m. – Someone stuck on the elevator, at Turnberry Condos Building P, at 9:20 p.m.
Saturday, April 19 – Water flow alarm malfunction, University Trails Building 8, at 12:27 a.m. – Third floor smoke detector malfunction, Honors College, at 11:02 a.m. – Starting grill with newspaper, embers fell into leaves, catching them on fire, at 2211 Deloras Drive, at 3:01 p.m. – Sparks from a blown transformer caused a small grass fire, at Molly Barr Cove, at 6:58 p.m. – Water flow alarm malfunction, at Faser Hall, at 7:11 p.m.
Sunday, April 20 – Blown transformer, nothing found, at CR 101 Winchester area, at 10:03 p.m. – Smoke detector malfunction, at Stewart Hall No. 724, at 11:08 p.m.
