The Daily Crime Report for Monday, April 14
The Oxford Police Department issued 27 citations, investigated 17 wrecks and made 26 arrests, on the following charges: five first-offense DUIs; careless driving, suspended; two shoplifting; public drunk, resisting arrest; three possession of drug paraphernalia; wrong way on one way, first-refusal DUI; four public drunk; three minors in possession; suspended driver’s license, no insurance, first-offense DUI; first-offense DUI, careless driving, no driver’s license; three first-offense DUI, careless driving; and first-offense DUI, speeding, no seat belt.
Oxford Police also responded to two fire assists, 23 alarms, 11 ambulance assists, 12 suspicious persons, one trespassing, 34 disturbances, six motorist assists, three welfare concerns, one 911, five reckless driving, five larceny reports, one harassment, one simple assault, one code enforcement (junk cars in yard) and a burglary report on Town Center Drive.
The University Police Department responded to the following incidents:
Saturday, April 12 Five speeding, two driving without headlights, two vehicle stops, ambulance needed at Kappa Alpha fraternity house, four seat belt violations, two hit-and-run accidents, three careless driving, disturbance – loud or unnecessary music or noise, two running stop signs and alcohol – intoxicated person at Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Sunday, April 13 Two driving without headlights, larceny at Stewart Hall, service call – suspicious person, assault – simple assault, causing bodily injury at Phi Delta Theta fraternity house, disturbance – fight at Sigma Phi Epsilon, alcohol – intoxicated person at Kincannon Field Lot, running a stop sign, three speeding, seat belt violation, disturbance – fight at The Ridge, vehicle stop, drugs – possession of paraphernalia at The Ridge and a suspicious vehicle at the Whirlpool Building.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Saturday, April 12
– Smell of gas, call unfounded, in the Molly Barr Road area, at 8:45 p.m.
– Burned food, at South Residential College No. 363, at 11:35 p.m.
Sunday, April 13
– Resident accidentally left a pot on stove, filling the apartment with smoke, at CB Webb 960 No. 2, at 12:17 p.m.
– Burned food at Deaton Hall, at 2:15 p.m.
