Ole Miss Hosts ULM in A Midweek Series

The Ole Miss baseball team looks to put Sunday’s loss far behind them as they return to the diamond at Swayze Field this afternoon to play host to the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.
In a two-game midweek series with first pitch slated for 4 p.m. today and Wednesday.
Ole Miss (6-1) enters after a successful weekend against the Georgia State Panthers, wining two-of-three games. The Friday night win, was Rebels starter Chris Ellis’ first complete game shutout, a 3-0 victory. Ole Miss’ bats were very hot on Saturday, as the Rebels strung together nine runs on a total of 17 hits.
Senior Will Allen leads the Rebels at the plate batting .429 with two home runs and 13 RBI on the season. As a club, Ole Miss is hitting .311, which leads the SEC through the first two weeks of the season.
Louisiana-Monroe (4-3) comes into Oxford after picking up a pair of victories over Western Illinois in the Carmel Inn Showdown in Thibodaux, Lou. over the weekend. The Warhawks are led at the plate by Jacob Stockton who is hitting at a .348 clip with five home runs on the year.
ULM as a club, is hitting .223 with three home runs and 18 RBI on the year.
The Warhawks will send to the hill sophomore right-hander Alex Hermeling (Tuesday) and senior right-hander Jared Dye (Wednesday). Ole Miss Coach Mike Bianco is going to send sophomore right-hander Jacob Waguespack to the mound on Tuesday and Wednesday’s starter has not yet been determined.
Ole Miss and Louisiana-Monroe are meeting on the diamond for the 40th time in this series. The Rebels hold a 28-10-1 advantage in the series. Last year, the Rebels defeated the Warhawks by the scores of 10-4 and 8-3.
First pitch for both games are scheduled for 4 p.m. and can be heard on the Ole Miss Baseball Network.
