UPDATE>> FBI Expands Investigation To Establish Hate Crime

In an email HottyToddy.com received from the FBI this afternoon, Special Agent in Charge Daniel McMullen announced that the Federal Bureau of Investigation, along with the University Police Department, will expand the investigation of the desecration of the statute of James Meredith, commemorating the integration of the University of Mississippi, for potential violations of federal law. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the FBI at (601) 948-5000.
Hotty Toddy.com has learned that three 19-year-old Ole Miss students, all from Georgia, have admitted hanging a noose around the neck of the statue of James Meredith.
UM police confirmed the students, all freshmen, have been kicked out of their campus fraternity.
University officials said the University Police findings have been turned over to the District Attorney.
Earlier this week the FBI told HottyToddy.com that they were involved in the case attempting to determine if the defilement of the Meredith statue fit the federal guidelines for a “Hate Crime.”
Those determinations may be a factor delaying the arrest of the three students who were no-shows at a scheduled meeting with police on Thursday. Authorities then determined that the students were being represented by an attorney who advised them not to talk to police until they were charged.
In addition to hanging the noose, the students are suspected of draping a pre-2003 Georgia state flag featuring the confederate stars and bars around the statue’s shoulders.

I have to say that it was wrong what those kids did, but the FBI getting involved and charging them with a hate crime is just stupid. I think the FBI has more important things to worry about, like terrorist, rather than some stupid kids. This has really blown way out of proportion in my opinion. These kids should be kick out of school and should pay for the damage to the statue. But charging them with a hate crime is just stupid.

Whole thing is stupid, the kids are dumb and the FBI handling of the situation is dumber. Eric Holder must be salivating. How about being beaten and mugged? Is that a hate crime? Usually no, but a statue is more important than a live person. Got it.

Does hanging a piece of rope and a flag on the statue cause any damage? Of what crime are they guilty? If these kids are guilty of crimes, does that mean that rap stars can be held to account for crimes against women?

Note that, of all the black-on-white violent attacks we’ve seen, exactly zero of them have been investigated by Mr. Eric “My People” Holder. Even the ones where the attackers have shouted racial epithets during the beatings.
But wound the feelings of Mr. Holder or “his people,” and there’ll be hell to pay.

Last time I checked ppl that think about doing something wrong can’t be charged with a crime, because if they did, everyone would be in prison.

Well, the hate crime statutes are very close to thought crimes. Since they didn’t actually damage the statue, the most they can be charged with is littering: probably a $200 fine or so. Add in the fact that there was also a thought crime, and they’re getting kicked off campus, out of their fraternity, and possibly jail time. So check again: are they being threatened with prison for their thoughts, or not?

Oh yeah everyone knows there is so much black on white violence going on, and oh yeah eric holder is to blame let’s not forget that, hold on did i leave out the rappers, don’t they all go around town puttin graffiti on Faulkner’s statue? These blacks what are we gonna do about em someone should really put them in there place, how dare they want an fbi investigation of an obvious racial crime. Because when people think about ole miss and Oxford let’s make comments to defend a symbolic hanging. Yeah that’s what we need. Let’s show the world in 2014 we can’t get over 1865. People commenting on this please choose the battles and leave out the bs please.
