A civil lawsuit alleges that Robert and Denzel Nkemdiche were part of a group that beat up a fellow student at a Kappa Alpha fraternity party on the Ole Miss campus on Feb. 17, 2013.
Yesterday, head football coach Hugh Freeze released the following statement:
”Having spoken with our players after the event occurred and reviewed the incident report, we are disappointed these unwarranted allegations are being directed at Denzel and Robert, and they have the full support of our team as they fight this matter.”
The law suit hit newsstands after the Denzel was arrested this past weekend. AD Ross Bjork commented on the incident by saying:
“When this alleged incident occurred, the proper authorities investigated the matter and could find no evidence of wrong-doing related to Denzel and Robert Nkemdiche or any other members of our football program. This is a personal matter for them and we will support Denzel and Robert while they defend themselves in this civil case.”
The civil suit, filed by a Memphis Law Firm, against the Nkemdiche brothers states that Matthew Baird, the alleged victim in this case, is seeking $2 million in damages.
According to a recent article on Foxsports.com, Baird alleges that he was attacked from behind at the Kappa Alpha fraternity party that he was attending with his girlfriend and friend Ford Everett. The punch was allegedly to the back of the head knocking him out with out any provocation. The Fox Sports article goes into much more gruesome detail about the attack. The Nkemdiche brothers have 30 days to respond to the suit against them.
