Rebels Steal Nationally Acclaimed JUCO Star, Shepard, From State

Published

One of the major surprises and quality additions to the Rebel roster on signing day was Tee Shepard, a 6-1, 195-pound junior college transfer from Fresno, Calif., who had originally committed to Mississippi State.
Shepard made his Ole Miss choice at the last possible moment after what sources describe as a multi-hour phone call with Coach Hugh Freeze.
Shepard is a consensus 4-star recruit, ranked No. 7 among junior college prospects by one scouting agency. He was rated the No. 1 JUCO cornerback by ESPN.com.
In one season at Holmes Junior College, the former Notre Dame recruit wracked up 54 tackles, one interception, two fumble recoveries and six pass breakups.
Shepard has experienced a bit of a nomad past having enrolled at Notre Dame for the spring 2012 semester after being part of the Irish’s 2012 signing class.
In high school in Washington State, the strong-tackling corner was rated a 5-star recruit, No. 39 player in the country and third-best cornerback nationally by Scout.com. He recorded 10 career interceptions in high school.
