Twin Rebels Bring Athleticism to Defense
With the signing of the Moore twins, A.J. and C.J.you might think the Rebels were doing one of the brothers a favor.
In this case, as with the Nkimediche brothers, the football program is actually gains two budding stars. A.J. was second-team All-American in high school and a consensus 3-starr recruit. One scouting agency rated him the No. 34 high school inside linebacker in the nation.
A.J. was chosen first-team all-state by the Clarion Ledger after recording 132 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks to go along with 5 rushing touchdowns as a senior. A.J. helped Bassfield High go 15-1 and win the Class 2A state championship.
To give you an idea how fast this linebacker prospect is, he finished runner-up to fellow Rebel recruit Kailo Moore in the 100 and 200 meters at the 2013 Class 2A state meet.
A.J.’s brother C.J. is rated the No. 69 athlete in the nation by one scouting source. He is another 3-star recruit and rated the 23rd best Mississippi prospect and the nation’s 112th ranked high school safety.
C.J. is also an all-around athlete playing quarterback and linebacker for Bassfield.
In 2013 he racked up 32 tackles, 4 TFL’s and 3 interceptions. He also completed 58 of 101 passes for 1,194 yards and 15 touchdowns, while rushing for 318 yards and 13 touchdowns.
C.J is another star track athlete.
Not two for the price of one — but two potential new stars on the Rebel defense.
