High Fives to North Mississippi High School Playoff Winners

Congratulations are in order for Friday night’s winners who will compete  in the 1A-6A football State Championship games this Friday and Saturday.

This past Friday night in the 6A playoff, Tupelo defeated South Panola by a score of 12-3. The Oxford Chargers bested Callaway 23-7 in Northern half of the 5A Playoffs, and it was the Lafayette Commodores over Cleveland by a score of 42-19 in the North 4A playoffs.

With the wins, all three teams advance to the state high school football playoffs in Jackson to be held at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium Dec. 6 and 7.

Tupelo will face off against Oak Grove on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. Oxford will play Picayune on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with Lafayette County set to play Forest County Agricultural at 3 p.m. Saturday.

In other high school football championship games, northern half Class 1A champions Smithville will face French Camp Academy at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 6. Class 2A northern half winner Calhoun City plays Bassfield at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 6, with 3A northern half winner Louisville to play Hazlehurst at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

“We are excited about the success of our local teams and wish them the best of luck in Jackson!” said Dr. Micheal Perry, developer of the Oxford-Lafayette Sportsplex and supporter of both the Charger’s and the Commodore’s athletic programs.
