Ole Miss football had its hopes of a perfect season come to an end two weeks ago against Kentucky. But its hopes of making the College Football Playoff are from being on life support.

The ninth-ranked Rebels’ easiest path to the playoff is to win out and it’s Football Power Index will help ease the pain of that loss.

Ole Miss is ranked No. 5 in ESPN’s College Football Playoff behind Texas, Ohio State, Alabama and Georgia (in that order). The Rebels are projected to win 9.7 games with the biggest question around the Nov. 9 home game against No. 5 Georgia.

If the Rebels can beat the Bulldogs, that loss to Kentucky will be more than made up for. A loss, though, would require help from other SEC teams to make the playoff.
