2013 Giving Tuesday Wish List
As the holidays approach and we reflect on the blessings we have received during the last year, our minds and hearts turn to those most in need in our community. United Way of Oxford and Lafayette County, Volunteer Oxford, the Medical Reserve Corps and RSVP are proud to bring you our 2013 Giving Tuesday Wish List as a way for you to help people in need, right her in the L-O-U community. The Giving Tuesday Wish List offers a wide range of opportunities for business and individuals to support local non-profit organizations.
Make sure to drop off all donations on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Oxford Activity Center between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Needs donations of new toys, batteries (9V, C, AA) or Walmart/Walgreens gift cards to purchase toys for eligible children in Oxford and Lafayette County who might not otherwise have Christmas. Toys or gift cards may be dropped off at Howorth Associates (800 North Lamar Blvd) or a Rotarian will pick up toy donations by contacting oxfordchristmasstore@gmail.com or 662-259-7150. Doors of Hope – Sherry Williams, doorsofhope@bellsouth.net, 662-234-1100. Doors of Hope is in need of toilet paper, laundry detergent, feminine hygiene items, toilet bowl cleaner, Pine Sol cleaner, pillows, large storage bins, and $10 gift cards to Walmart, Kroger, Larson’s Cash Saver, etc.
Food Pantry – Ann O’Dell, oxfordfoodpantry@yahoo.com, 662-832-8001. The Pantry is in need of food that is low in fat, sodium and sugar. For canned items, 14-15 oz. is the best size. Some suggested foods include: fresh fruits and vegetables, cereals (such as Shredded Wheat, Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, Cheerios, Corn Chex), oatmeal, grits, whole-grain bread, lite canned fruit, low sodium and fat-free chicken and beef broth, low fat soups, sugar free gelatin, desserts, whole-grain pastas, low-sodium canned vegetables, low-sodium canned chicken or tuna, peanut butter, corn meal, and self-rising flour.

The Literacy Council is in need of a small desktop scanner, legal pads, dry erase markers, copy/printer paper, sets of soft white incandescent tap lights, gently used or new picture books and readers for kindergarten and first grade level, gift certificates for coffee/restaurants/etc. for volunteer thank you gifts, early reading games, gift certificate printing services, and craft supplies, such as pipe cleaners, pom poms, construction paper, googly eyes, and yarn.
