Training Event to Give Parents Inside Look at Digits Program

Oxford, Mississippi – This Wednesday Oxford Middle School parents and families are invited to take an inside look at the new way middle school students are learning math. A Parent Workshop on Digits, the new math curriculum for middle school students, will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Oxford Middle School Upper Cafeteria.

Digits is an interactive middle school math course which allows students in grades six through eight to use personalized learning and intensive one-on-one instruction through technology. Learning math is highly visual, fun, and engaging with Digits. During the workshop, parents and families will see how Digits works in the classroom and how they can help their child at home with the new math curriculum. The training event is free, and school officials encourage parents and families with children enrolled at Oxford Middle School to attend.

Digits meets the educational needs of twenty-first century learners and teachers, and the math coursework is written entirely to the new Common Core State Standards. Digits uses lesson planning, homework management, intervention, and assessment with a user-friendly design that encourages students and teachers to work together using interactive whiteboards.

For more information on the Digits Parent Workshop, contact Oxford Middle School Principal Jeff Clay at (662) 234-2288 or Candy Mize at the Oxford School District at (662) 234-3541.
