Don’t be late to lunch or you could be sucking hind tot—yes, tot.

Blogger Tom Freeland reported on the construction of the barbecue pit behind Lamar Lounge last Thursday. And John Currence, whose company City Grocery Group just purchased the restaurant and bar, has wasted no time putting it into action—serving the meat of his first whole-hog cue starting today.

A barbecue sandwich with one side runs $5; a barbecue plate (pulled pork, no bun) with two sides and a biscuit is $8; barbecue tots are $8.50. The sandwich comes with pickled onions instead of slaw.

ESPN writer and Oxford resident Wright Thompson has been giddily tweeting in recent days about the launch of pit barbecue at Lamar Lounge, including sharing this photo of the making of charcoal in metal drums.

To sample the succulence, follow the smoky aroma to 1309 North Lamar Boulevard.
