Double Decker Arts Festival Announces 2020 Official Poster Artist

The Double Decker Arts Festival committee has chosen local artist Hannah McCormick as the official poster artist for the 25th Annual Festival.

Local artists were given the chance earlier this year to submit a masterpiece to be named the “official artwork” for the festival that will be held on April 24-25, 2020.

The art is printed on the official festival T-shirts and the official festival poster. McCormick’s artwork will be unveiled at the Double Decker Arts Festival Press Conference in February 2020.

Artists were able to apply for consideration via applications posted on the official Double Decker website as well as on the Double Decker Facebook page. McCormick will also receive a free Double Decker Arts Festival art vendor booth space during the festival.

“Double Decker is always a special time of year, and as a local artist it is important to participate and at the very least contribute to all the efforts,” McCormick said.

McCormick attended school at the University of Mississippi and decided to stay here as a permanent resident. She has been a local resident for 10 years but has been working as a commissioned portrait artist for more than 15 years. Her work also includes creating live event paintings at weddings and her artwork is featured in many galleries around Oxford and Jackson. She has taught private art lessons for all ages since living in Oxford. She has participated in the Double Decker Festival in previous years by sharing a booth with other local artists.

Celebrating 25 years, Oxford’s Double Decker Arts Festival is a free, two-day festival inspired by the literary town’s 1994 import of a double-decker bus from England. The festival attracts more than 65,000 people and is the recipient of more than 25 awards, including Best Festival by “Mississippi Magazine” and a Top 20 event by the Southeast Tourism Society.
