Mempho Music Festival returns to Shelby Farms Park in Memphis Oct. 19 and 20 for two days and nights of multiple genres of live music.
Between the music of today’s top performers and being nestled in historic Memphis, this festival provides music lovers an engaging experience of the town’s rich musical history. The two-day event includes performances from The Raconteurs, Brandi Carlile and the Wu-Tang Clan.
“I went the first year they had it and I had so much fun. I had a VIP pass so I got to sit at a huge tent and just hang out. The music was pretty good too,” said Ole Miss sophomore Amanda Martin.
In its inaugural year, 2017, Mempho Music Festival was nominated for the “Best New Festival” at the FestX Awards. Not only has it made an immediate impact on attendees, but it is also located in one of the largest urban parks in America, a 4,500-acre venue that includes lakes, lawns and trails open to the public year-round.
“The atmosphere was really cool. I didn’t get any food but I know they had a lot of options,” Martin said.
Festival-goers are surrounded by three live stages, food and art markets, and the Incendia Fire Dome which manipulates flames to create a captivating glow.
This year, the vast venue will provide more room for attendees to park closer to the event and will have designated areas for pick-ups for Uber and Lyft users.
According to Kent Underwood, one of the festival organizers, Mempho will be providing a smartphone app that will allow users to connect their credit cards to order food and drinks. They will be able to pay for it through the app and then go to the vender and pick it up right away.
Tickets for the Mempho Music Festival start at $75 plus fees for general admission and $165 plus fees for the VIP ticket.
