As the news of Glenn Boyce’s appointment as the next chancellor of the University of Mississippi broke Thursday night, many alumni and members of the community took to Twitter and Facebook to voice their concerns and opinions.

Let me get this straight..IHL hires one of their cronies (Glenn Boyce) to serve as advisor to find new OleMiss Chancellor..several VERY qualified candidates emerge..Glenn decides he wants job, so IHL cancels process and hires him? Only in Mississippi. Corrupt IHL is complete joke

As tensions rise on campus, university organizations and community members have already created an online petition to fire Boyce from his new position.

The petition garnered 846 signatures by 11:10 a.m. Friday.
