MS Public Education PAC Endorses Frye for Senate Seat

The Mississippi Public Education PAC, a nonpartisan political action committee that champions public education, has endorsed Oxonian Kevin Frye in the Senate District 9 general election.

The general election will take place on Nov. 5. Frye will face Republican candidate Nicole Boyd, also an Oxford resident. Senate District 9 encompasses Lafayette and Panola counties.

With just a few weeks until the Mississippi general election, the MSPEPAC chose to endorse Frye because of his “strong commitment to support public education and his belief that Mississippi’s public schools should be adequately and equitably funded,” according to a recent press release.

“Kevin Frye is a proven leader who believes that strong public schools are essential to his community,” said Kate Farabaugh, a founding MSPEPAC board member from Tupelo. “He’s a staunch advocate for early childhood learning and, if elected, will be a huge ally to us in the Mississippi Legislature.”  

MSPEPAC was founded in 2016 by a group of passionate public school parents from around the state who advocate for high-quality public schools. The PAC’s mission is to help elect pro-public-education candidates to the Mississippi Legislature in order to strengthen, support and protect existing public schools in the state.

Frye is the son of a public school teacher and a graduate of public schools. He received a bachelor’s degree in music education in 2002 and later earned a law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2005.

Currently, the Lafayette County District 1 Supervisor, Frye was recently recognized as a part of the 2019 class of Mississippi’s Top 50 Under 40 up-and-coming business leaders by the Mississippi Business Journal. From 2008-2013, he served as an adjunct faculty member and director of the Public Service Internship Program at the University of Mississippi School of Law.

He is the founding partner of Frye Reeves, PLLC, and he has been voted “Oxford’s Favorite Attorney” for 10 consecutive years.

Frye has served on the Vestry at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, on Oxford’s Historic Preservation Commission, as a member and former vice president of the board of directors of Theatre Oxford and as president of the Lafayette County Bar Association.

He and his wife Ashley live in Lafayette County and have two boys, Liam and Nathan.
