The Ole Miss soccer team returns to the pitch on Friday to open up conference action against the Missouri Tigers. First kick is slated for 7 p.m. on SEC Network+.
Ole Miss (6-2) ended its non-conference schedule with a 2-1 loss to South Alabama on Sunday.
“We’re excited to get into conference play certainly and head into it with just a one-game weekend,” Head Coach Matt Mott said.
Junior Channing Foster has scored in five of the Rebels’ eight games in 2019, totaling a team-high six goals in all. Her teammate senior Julia Phillips ranks second on the team with four goals.
Missouri rolls into Oxford with a 6-2 record after splitting a pair of matches over the weekend. The Tigers dropped their first match to Cal State Fullerton (Friday) and bounced back against Northern Colorado (Sunday).
“They’re always very difficult and they play with a high tempo. They have a couple really good forwards, so we have to get ourselves cleaned up and ready to go for the conference season,” Mott said.
Missouri sophomore forward Julissa Cisneros has found the back of the net five times on the season. Her teammate Sarah Luebbert has scored four goals.
Since Missouri joined the conference in 2012 they have faced Ole Miss seven times on the pitch. Ole Miss trails the series at 3-2-1 in the all-time series. With matches played in Oxford, the series is knotted up at 1-1-1. Last season, the Rebels dropped a tightly contested match by the score of 2-1 in Columbia.
Fans can watch all the action of this match on the SEC Network+ starting at 7 p.m.
