Oxford Crime & Emergency Reports from Sept. 17, 2019
The following reports were made Sept. 17, 2019, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.
Oxford Police Department issued eight tickets, investigated eight wrecks and the following reports:

1 ambulance assist
1 careless driving
3 disturbing the peace complaints
1 domestic disturbance
1 domestic violence-simple assault
1 elderly assist
1 fire department assist
3 improper parking complaints
1 joyriding
1 K9 search
2 malicious mischief complaints
1 other agency assist
1 shoplifting
1 simple assault
1 suspicious activity
2 welfare checks
Officers made the following arrests:
1 possession of a schedule 2 drug possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, no insurance and no headlights
1 possession of a schedule 4 drug, possession of a schedule 1 drug and driving while license suspended
1 possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to comply with officer
1 possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a schedule 2 drug
1 warrant served
Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department made no arrests, investigated two wrecks and the following reports:
1 simple assault
1 agency assist
5 alarms
2 animal complaints
1 civil matter
1 grand larceny
2 informational reports
1 noise complaint
1 suspicious person
2 traffic complaints
4 transports
1 welfare concern
5 service process
University Police Department investigated two wrecks and a report of a suspicious person.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
9:12 a.m. – 546 Wedgewood Dr. – living room smoke detector malfunction
11:14 a.m. – 2215 Jefferson Davis Dr. area – small grass fire – FD extinguished it
12:03 p.m. – Sugar Magnolia – 85-year-old with chest pains – monitored vitals until EMS arrived
5:40 p.m. – Hwy. 7 South – person having a medical issue in vehicle – EMS already on scene
