A Lafayette County man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a 160-year-old bell from the Orrwood community.
According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, the bell was stolen this past weekend from the Sand Springs Presbyterian Church.
On Monday, investigators recovered the bell and arrested Michael Lippert, who was charged with grand theft and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he is awaiting a first appearance hearing.
The old church sits on 17 acres of land adjacent to the Orrwood Cemetery. Both were founded in 1854.
