Running Game Propels Rebels to a Lead in First Half

Ole Miss came out strong in all three phases of the game against Southeastern Louisiana in the first half. The Rebels went into the locker room with a 10 point advantage, 27-17.
The Rebels got on the scoreboard fast and early in the first quarter as quarterback Matt Corral found Elijah Moore for a nine-yard touchdown strike.
Corral finished the half passing for 102 yards with two touchdowns.
Freshman running back Jerrion Ealy had a career-high half with a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. He followed that with a 52 and a 30-yard scamper on the same drive for his first career rushing touchdown in a Rebel uniform.
Ealy takes 243 total purpose yards so far in the game.
Senior running back Scottie Phillips had 18 touches in the half for a total of 69 yards.
Coach Mike MacIntyre’s defense held the Lions offense in check in the first quarter of action as they gave up only two first downs. The Landshark defense allowed the Lions to 73 yards on the turf and 167 through the air.
Late in the half, Ole Miss’ defense allowed the Lions to start moving the ball down the field, gaining yards on the ground and through the air.
