For the last 10-plus years, the popular athletic fields off Old Sardis Road have been named FNC Park after local computer software business FNC Inc. sponsored the fields in 2008.
However, with a new naming sponsor, the park will now be known as mTrade Park.
Brad Freeman, director of FNC Park, announced Tuesday that mTrade, another local computer software company, has become the new naming rights sponsor of the athletic fields park.
“mTrade is committed to investing in Oxford and Lafayette County, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with the park as its new naming rights sponsor,” said Chip Bolton, mTrade’s chief administrative officer and general counsel. “We recognize how important the park has become to our community and we are proud to have our named attached to it.”
FNC Inc. was founded in the mid-1990s by former University of Mississippi professors and mortgage industry experts Bill Rayburn and Dennis Tosh. The company pioneered real estate collateral information technology and solutions that automate property appraisal ordering, tracking, documentation and review for lender compliance with government regulations.
CoreLogic, a global property information, analytics and data-enabled services provider, purchased FNC in 2015 for $475 million.
Founded in 2016 by Rayburn and Lois Lovelady, mTrade is a mortgage software company focused on streamlining capital markets. The company is located in the Oxford Enterprise Center with offices in Tupelo and New York City. The company has more than 200 employees and contractors located in several states, “calling Oxford home.”
“It’s an exciting time for us to begin a new decade as the same park with a new name, mTrade Park,” Freeman said. “Most coaches and ballplayers know across the state who FNC Park is, and the same will be said as we transition into mTrade Park. It will continue to be state-wide and regionally known.”
Built on land donated by Oxford resident and developer Larry McAlexander, FNC Park has more than 75-acres of state-of-the-art fields for soccer, baseball and softball and hosts hundreds of local games and state tournaments.
Freeman said a few more details need to be worked out before the name change is official but expects it to be completed over the next few months, and a more formal announcement is expected in January.
“We look forward a big ribbon-cutting ceremony to announce the new name,” said Mayor Robyn Tannehill Tuesday during the Oxford Board of Aldermen meeting when Freeman announced the change.
