Ole Miss Modifying Student Party Section

In order to accommodate demand while maintaining the safest environment, Ole Miss is modifying its new student party section, which will debut at next week’s football season opener against Arkansas.

All of the originally planned amenities – covering for shade, televisions, charging stations and fans – will be featured in the new section, which will run along the top of the north end zone. The platform concept has been canceled due to safety concerns and the opportunity to increase capacity from 800 students to 2,450.

In addition, the student party section will now be entirely general admission in order to simplify the seating process.

“We will always explore opportunities that can improve our gameday experience, particularly as it relates to our student body, and we are excited for our students to enjoy the party section,” said Ole Miss Interim Athletics Director Keith Carter. “We will evaluate the success of the section this year and determine ways to enhance it for future seasons.

“In regards to the platforms, safety concerns were identified during the construction that forced a change in plans. Safety will always be our top priority, and we will never compromise on that. Fortunately, these alternate plans will actually allow us to keep the same amenities and accommodate more students.”
