Oxford Treehouse Gallery Set for Busy Autumn
The Oxford Treehouse Gallery and Event Venue is excited to present a statewide collaboration of artists and cigar box guitar maker, Alan Gross.
Five Mississippi artists lent their creative brains to embellish Alan’s “Gross-casters.” All are welcome at the reception featuring these one-of-a-kind pieces on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Gross, professor of psychology and director of clinical training for the clinical psychology graduate program at the University of Mississippi, has been in love with the guitar and the blues since he was a teen. It is now his great fortune to be living in Mississippi, where the blues remains a vibrant force in music culture.
He has teamed up with several artists to create some amazing and one-of-a-kind cigar box guitars. Benny Melton, Paulette Dove, Hannah McCormick, Doug Hollis, and Mallory Kay Palmertree have painted original artwork on Alan’s ‘Gross-Casters’. CBGs will be for sale, but they are going fast.
A goal of Oxford Treehouse Gallery is to share this space with other artists and to provide the public with fine art experience in an unconventional gallery setting in beautiful Lafayette County.
The reception for the CigART Box Guitars will be on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. Oxford Treehouse Gallery hours are Thursday-Saturday 12-6 p.m. and by appointment.
