Oxford Police Department issued 68 tickets, investigated 33 wrecks and the following reports:

Officers made the following arrests:
2 for DUI, wrong way on a one-way street
1 DUI and careless driving
1 DUI, one headlight and speeding
1 DUI and one headlight
1 DUI and other agency
1 DUI and failing to yield right of way
1 DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance and running a red light
1 DUI, child endangerment by DUI and careless driving
1 DUI-second, no insurance, suspended driver’s license and running a red light
3 for domestic violence with simple assault
1 motor vehicle theft
1 malicious mischief
1 possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, seat belt violation and no insurance
2 public drunks
1 public drunk and possession of drug paraphernalia
1 public drunk and disturbing the peace
1 simple assault
1 warrant served and domestic violence with simple assault
1 warrant served, no tag and no insurance
1 warrant served and one headlight
Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department investigated a wreck and the following reports:

Deputies made the following arrests:
1 grand theft
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, contempt and grand theft
1 possession of a stolen firearm warrant
University Police Department made one arrest for failing to yield to a pedestrian, possession of drug paraphernalia and suspended driver’s license, investigated three wrecks and the following reports:
1 ambulance call
4 intoxicated people
2 possession of alcohol by a person under 21
1 loud music
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
8/23 – 14:41 – 100 U Club Cove – construction dumpster fire
8/23 – 16:07 & 18:13 – The Jackson Ave. Center – A05 smoke detector malfunction
8/23 – 17:15 – Thad Cochran Bldg. – people stuck on an elevator
8/23 – 18:33 – Hwy. 6 West – wreck with no injuries
8/23 – 19:29 – 1537 East Jackson Ave. – tree limb fell on a power line causing a fire – fire was out upon arrival as the limb fell off the line
8/23 – 20:16 – The Chancellor’s House Hotel – water flow system malfunction
8/23 – 23:00 – The Chancellor’s House Hotel – bar smoke detector malfunction
8/24 – 00:38 – The Band Hall – mechanical room duct detector activation – slight smell because of a power outage
8/24 – 05:53 – Oxford Health and Rehab – a resident pulled a fire alarm
8/24 – 12:42 – West Jackson / Panera Bread – wreck with no injuries
8/24 – 12:44 – Oxford Urocare – sanding sheetrock activated a smoke detector
8/24 – 13:14 – Dollar Tree – called because an emergency light was buzzing – FD told them to call maintenance
8/24 – 17:54 – Courtyard Marriott East Jackson Ave. – fifth-floor catering smoke detector malfunction
8/24 – 19:16 – Hwy. 6 West Chevron – 90-year-old patient having difficulty breathing – checked vitals, provided oxygen and monitored until EMS arrived
8/24 – 23:16 – Anderson Road area – female passed out and fell in the street – monitored until EMS arrived
8/25 – 11:08 – Slack Road / University Ave. – construction site had a gas valve leaking – contacted Centerpoint Energy
8/25 – 16:24 – Harris Drive/Animal Clinic area – male subject holding on to girlfriend’s jeep let go and fell and got road rash
8/25 – 18:42 – 406 PR 1107 – resident dropped an oven mitt in the oven and it caught fire – fire was out before FD arrived
8/25 – 19:02 – Deaton Hall room 212 – burned potpourri wax activated a smoke detector
8/25 – 19:24 – 1106 South Lamar – call canceled
8/26 – 04:25 – Highland Square 206 Town Center Drive No. 100 – power outage activated a fire alarm
8/26 – 06:12 – Pi Beta Phi house – cooking activated a smoke detector
