The attorney for a man pulled over during a roadblock in Water Valley two weeks ago says his client is the victim of police brutality.
Attorney Carlos Moore, managing partner of the Cochran Law Firm-Mississippi Delta said he had been retained by Water Valley resident Davidtron Logan who claims he was unarmed and severely beaten by both Water Valley Police officers and Yalobusha County Sheriff’s deputies.
Moore posted a photo of Logan, showing significant injuries to his face with his hands behind his back while sitting on a wood bench; however, nothing noting where the photo was taken is indicated in the photo.
Logan was apparently pulled over during a driver’s license check on July 18 when a scuffle commenced between Logan and law enforcement officers.
Commenting on behalf of Yalobusha Sheriff W.F. Lance Humphreys, Assistant District Attorney Steven Jubera told Hottytoddy.com Monday that Logan was charged with driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest, simple assault on a law enforcement officer and possession of a controlled substance. He said more charges could be pending after the charges are presented to the grand jury which could be in September.
Moore said his client had not been served any papers or given a court date and did not have to post bail.
Jubera said he could not comment on Logan’s allegations of police brutality other than “the injuries of both (Logan) and a law enforcement officer were noted in the report.”
